All Maryland family law cases are filed in Circuit Court, except for a Petition For Protection From Domestic Violence which can be filed in a Circuit Court or the District Court. There are Circuit Courts and District Courts in all counties of the state.
Fees vary depending on the action, but in most cases the cost of a divorce action will be at least $90.00 plus a Master's fee of approximately $110.00. The Master's Fee is often paid in advance at the same time that you file your complaint. Ask the clerk to tell you the amount of all fees and when the fees will need to be paid.
To ask the court to delay or excuse the fees if you have little or no money or income, file Form Dom. Rel. 32 at the beginning of your case.
